8x8 inch Glass Blocks with Vinyl and Lights- $21.50

This quick and easy project will be a favorite for gift giving.  You can complete this project is about 15 minutes.  The glass blocks have an opening in the bottom so you can insert lights, ribbon, tissue paper, or whatever you'd like.  Choose from the following vinyl designs for your block.

 Count Your Blessings - 3 Photo Frame - $13

This wooden board is approximately 16" x 11.5" and uses tiny wooden clothes pins to hang three 4x6 pictures.  It hangs from the wall using ribbon.  This project takes about 45 minutes to complete.

Coconut Nativity - $15

Taught by Kris Cherrington
This adorable nativity is made with a coconut shell and clay figurines.  All clay pieces will be pre-made by Kris.  You will assemble the nativity and can choose the fabric you like best.  Sample fabrics will be at the church.  This project takes about 30-45 minutes to assemble.

This is a quick and easy apron that would make a great gift.  You bring the towel and ribbon and any accents you'd like to put on the apron.  Instruction sheets will be available at church and will provide more detailed instructions.  If you can bring your own sewing machine that would be great.

Set of 5 Quiet Puzzles - $7

Taught by Wendy Smith
These quiet puzzles are simple to make but will provide lots of reverent entertainment for your kids or grandkids. The four church pictures and sticks will be provided.  You can bring your own 5x7 photo for the last puzzle.  This project takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Decorative Towels - $3 each

Taught by Lynsey Johnson
These darling towels are made from flour sack towels and acrylic paint mixed with a fabric medium.  There will be a variety of stencils and paint to choose from.  You can bring your own acrylic paint if you have a favorite color, or you can request paint colors on the sign up sheet.  This is a fairly quick project to complete.

We are excited for our upcoming Super Saturday activity. The projects will be on display in the North foyer of the church on Sunday, October 13th and 20th.   All projects must be paid in full by October 20th.  Turn in your money to Tracy Anderson.   You can sign up by commenting on this blog or by sending an email to tracy@andersonphoto.biz

There will be two instructional classes that are free of charge.  The classes will be held directly before and after lunch so you can come eat, socialize and learn even if you don't sign up for other projects.  

Free Class - How to Refinish Furniture -  by Jayme Henry
Do you have old furniture around your house that you'd love to update with a fresh coat of paint but you're just not sure how to go about it?  Well this is the class for you!  Jayme will share with us her expertise in refinishing furniture.  She has developed a technique for painting furniture that uses chalk paint.  She will share with us some tips to save money by making your own chalk paint.  She will also demonstrate the steps to follow to achieve a beautifully painted piece of furniture.  

Free Class - How to Transfer Text to Wood - by Tracy Anderson
This class will demonstrate how simple it is to make a piece of art using a laser printout, an iron, and a piece of wood.  Come learn the steps that will make your project a success.  Once you learn the steps to follow the possibilities are endless.  You can also sign up to make one of the three projects listed below that use this technique. (Tender Mercies sign, Merry little Christmas sign, Be Kind sign)

Project 1 - Framed Temple Portrait - 26"x 32"- $55
This project involves mounting and texturizing your print, painting your frame, and inserting your print and backing. The end result looks so professional that no one will believe you when you tell them you made it yourself!  We will provide black paint for the frame.  If you prefer a different color you are welcome to bring your own paint.  There are many temple options available. Please indicate which temple print you would like to order. This project should take approximately 2 hours to complete.

Project 2 - Images of Christ Advent Calendar - $28
This unique advent calendar has vinyl lettering across the top that says "Christ is the reason for the season". It has 25 numbered wooden tiles that have a picture of Christ on the back with a corresponding scriptural reference.  What a wonderful way for your family to remember Christ every day leading up to Christmas.  The board is approximately 18" x 24" and should take approximately 2-3 hours to complete




Project 3 - Felt Pumpkin - $10
This cute felt pumpkin is simple to make yet darling to display.  It is approximately 7"  in diameter and has a twig stem and fabric leaves.  This project should take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete.  



Project 4 - Burlap Wreath - $15
This versatile wreath will be a great addition to your home decor.  It should take approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.  Approximately 24" in diameter.  



Project 5 - Decorative Felt Flower Pillow - $20
This no-sew project is a great way to spruce up your home decor.  The chevron print pillows are available in three colors.  Cream & Turquoise, Cream & Yellow, Cream & Brown.  Please indicate the color combination you prefer when signing up.  You will cut out the felt flower petals, glue them on your pillow and add a decorative button.  This project should take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete.  Approximate size 18" x 18".




Project 6 - Joy - $15



This cute decoration spells JOY using a metal bell for the O.  You will paint the J and Y then attach decorative paper to the front of the two letters.  There will be assorted papers to choose from.  Each letter is approximately 7" tall.  This project should take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.








Project 7 - House of Order Binder - $10

In case of an emergency, say a house fire, wouldn't it be nice if you could save all of your most valuable documents?  The House of Order binder is a place to store birth and marriage certificates, passports, social security cards, home insurance information, car insurance information, emergency cash.  It is also a place to organize your finances, budgets, wish lists, projects, vacations, etc. 


Project 8a - Tender Mercies Sign - $12
This project involves transferring the ink from a laser print onto wood using an iron.  You can whitewash the wood before transferring the ink or transfer directly to the wood.   If you want to whitewash your wood first, this project will take approximately 45 minutes.  If you want to transfer directly to the wood it will take approximately 15 minutes.  Please bring your own iron to complete this project.  Approximate size 12" x 18". 





Project 8b - Merry little Christmas Sign - $10

This project involves transferring the ink from a laser print onto wood using an iron.  Since this print is in color, we will paint the board white, allow it to dry and then use the iron transferring technique to complete the project. It should take approximately 45 - 60 minutes.   Please bring your own iron to complete this project.  If you prefer to have a the text printed in traditional green and red Christmas colors rather than the turquoise and red shown here, please indicate when signing up for the project.  Approximate size 11" x 11".





Project 8c - Be Kind Sign - $5

This project involves transferring the ink from a laser print onto wood using an iron.  You can whitewash the wood before transferring the ink or transfer directly to the wood.   If you want to whitewash your wood first, this project will take approximately 45 minutes.  If you want to transfer directly to the wood it will take approximately 15 minutes.  Please bring your own iron to complete this project.  Approximate size 5" x 7".

This beautiful frame will show off your 8x10 picture in style.  You will paint and distress your frame.  Assorted paint colors will be available, or you can bring your own paint if you have a particular color in mind.  Approximately 30 minutes to complete. 




Project 9b - Rectangular Two Layered Frame - 8x10 - $29
This beautiful frame will show off your 8x10 picture in style.  It frame has a rectangular background and a scrolled decorative top layer. You will paint and distress your frame.  Assorted paint colors will be available, or you can bring your own paint if you have a particular color in mind.  Approximately 45 minutes to complete. 

Project 9c - Scrolled Two Layered Frame - 8x10 - $24
This beautiful frame will show off your 8x10 picture in style.  It has a a double frame in a unique scrolled shape.  You will paint and distress your frame.  Assorted paint colors will be available, or you can bring your own paint if you have a particular color in mind.  Approximately 45 minutes to complete. 




Project 9d - Large Scrolled Frame - 16x20 - $55
This beautiful frame will show off your 16x20 picture in style.  You will paint and distress your frame.  Assorted paint colors will be available, or you can bring your own paint if you have a particular color in mind.  Approximately 45 minutes to complete.

Super Saturday Crafts - October 20th

Hello Sisters! 

We are excited about our Super Saturday on October 20, 2012.   You can sign up for projects here by making a comment at the end of this blog post.  Here is what we have to offer so far.

The last day to sign up for projects is October 3rd.  All money must be turned in to Tracy Anderson by October 3rd.

Project 1 - Families are Forever Plaque - Cost $15.00


This project includes a wooden board, bead board accent, metal plate and black vinyl lettering.  The overall dimensions are 24" long by 5 1/2" tall.  Black paint will be provided for the wooden board.  If you would like to use a different color you are welcome to bring your own paint.  Stain will also be provided to antique the bead board accent. 

Project 2 - Long Magnetic Board - Cost $17.00


This project includes a wooden board for the base, a metal plate and vinyl lettering with the saying "These are a few of my favorite things".  Overall dimensions are 27" long by 8 1/2" tall.  Black paint will be provided for the wooden board. If you would like to use a different color you are welcome to bring your own paint. Stain will also be provided for antiquing. 

Project 3 - Happy Birthday Blocks - Cost $22.00


This project includes all wood pieces, black vinyl lettering, paper to cover the wood and ribbon and glitter for the balloons.  White paint will be provided for the blocks.  The paper selection may varry slightly from the sample depending on availability.  The overall dimensions are approximately 19" long by 10" tall.

Project 4 - Trick or Treat Block - Cost $10.00 


This project includes wood pieces, paper for the block, ribbon, paint and glitter as shown.  Paper may vary slightly due to availability.  The overall dimensions of this project are 5" long by 12" tall. 

Project 5 - Mini Magnets - Set of 9 - Cost $4.50


These little magnets are approximately 1/2" in diameter with epoxy brads for decoration.  Some of the brads are larger diameter, 3/4" to 1".  There will be an assortment of brads to choose from.  The magnets are shown on quart lids that have been painted black.  A lid will be included with each set you purchase. 

Project 6 - Temple Block - Cost $5.00


 
This project includes a block of wood, tan paper, and print of the temple with the words "I'm going there someday."  The overall dimensions of this project are 5 1/2" by 5 1/2".  Black paint and stain will be provided.  If you would like to use a different color paint you are welcome to bring your own.
 

Project 7 - Table Runner - Bring your own supplies

 
   
Come learn how to make this beautiful table runner.  This pattern can be used for holiday fabrics or everyday fabrics.  A supply list will be provided.  You will bring your own supplies.  You can also come to the class to learn how to make it and then complete the project at home on your own time.  This class will include a tutorial on quilt binding. 
 

Project 8 - How to Make Fun Holiday Treats - Free

 
Come learn how to make some fun and festive treats for the holidays.  This is a free, hands-on class where you will be able to make some creative treats.  Even though it is a free class please sign up if you are interested so we can make sure we have enough supplies for everyone. 
 
 

Project 9 - Felt Flowers - Free

 
 
This class will show you how to make felt flowers.  The possibilities are endless.  A variety of colors will be available.  We want to have enough supplies for everyone who is interested in this class, so please sign up if you're interested.  If you have fabric scissors please bring them with you.
